Questionswe often hear

What does the embroidery on these mean?

The artwork started as a hand-painted piece in our studio, then we spent weeks working out how to translate those brushstrokes into embroidery without losing the looseness of the original.

How long does one pair take to make?

Around 12 hours of embroidery per pair, not counting the design work that came before it. The artwork is stitched panel by panel, and the denser sections of the phoenix take the longest.

How do I wash these?

Cold water, inside out, gentle cycle or hand wash

What should I wear these with?

Keep the top half quiet. The denim is doing the talking, so a plain tee, a solid oversized shirt, or a simple knit lets the artwork sit where it should. Boots or chunky sneakers balance the volume of the leg. If you're layering, an unstructured jacket in a neutral works better than anything with its own print.

Will the embroidery fade or come loose in the wash?

We've tested this ourselves. Washed pairs repeatedly, cold and inside out, and the embroidery held its colour and its stitching, with no fading in the denim either. The thread we use is a durable one chosen specifically to survive regular wear.
